Who We Are

Joaquin has more than 25 years of international experience in capital markets and investment banking. Before founding Four Trees,  Joaquin was the Head of Latin America at StormHarbour Securities.

He has completed numerous milestone capital raising, credit and M&A investments in Europe and the Americas. He has lived and worked in London, Madrid, Barcelona, Santiago de Chile and New York. His experience includes Santander’s Global Banking and Markets team where he served as Chairman of Santander Investment Securities, General Manager of Banco Santander SA.

NY Branch and Head of Santander Global Banking and Markets in Chile where he and his team originated and executed some of the most relevant deals in Chile. He also worked nine years in Bank of America’s Global Markets Group in London and Madrid and Argentaria (BBVA) in Madrid. Joaquin holds a BA in Economics (major in Financial Markets) from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a MBA from IESE-Universidad de Navarra. He is a member of the New York Economic Club and served in the Capital Markets Advisory Board to the Minister of Finance of Chile and in the board of the Spain-USA Chamber of Commerce in New York.

Jose Antonio has more than 25 years global banking experience. Most of his career was developed at Banco Santander and Deutsche Bank. He has lived and worked in Madrid, London, New York and Mexico.

At Santander Global Banking & Markets division (SGBM) he has been Head of Corporate and Investment Banking for Latin America, Head of GBM in México, Head of GBM in the US, Global Head of Financing Solutions and Advisory and Head of GBM in the Andean Region, Argentina, Uruguay and Middle East.

He has been member of Santander GBM`s global executive committee, chairman of GBM America’s executive committee, and member of the board of various group’s subsidiaries and investment vehicles.

He has lead and participated in numerous investment and capital markets transactions and has had an active role in the growth and expansion of the investment banking business across products and geographies.

Jose Antonio holds a BS in Business Administration from Saint Louis University in Missouri and has attended IESE-Universidad de Navarra and Stanford University executive programs.

Juan has over 22 years experience in the banking industry with a strong expertise in financial markets.

Before joining Four Trees he worked over 15 years for BBVA where he held different positions in Corporate and Investment Banking, specifically in Global Markets, Client Coverage (Financial Institutions) and Strategy and Business Development. Most of Juan´s career has been carried out in Financial Markets which gives him a thorough knowledge of financial instruments and markets. Throughout his career he has advised Multilateral Agencies, Corporates, Financial Institutions, SMEs, Public Sector companies and Institutional Investors to fullfill their funding, hedging and investment needs.

Previously to BBVA he worked for La Caixa (today Caixabank) setting up the Sales Desk in Madrid to expand distribution capabilities for Investors, Public Sector and Corporate clients. Before that he worked for BNP Paribas for over 3 years holding responsibilities in DCM, Structuring and Interest Rate Derivatives Trading.

Juan started his career at ICO´s (Instituto de Crédito Oficial) Financial Dept. carrying out responsibilities within the Funding and Assets & Liabilities Management team. Juan holds a BS in Business Administration from Saint Louis University, Missouri, and a Master Programme in Financial Markets from IEESS- San Pablo C.E.U. Madrid.

Vidal Amatriain is a founding partner of Four Trees Merchant Partners.

He has more than 28 years of experience in the renewable energy, food, industrial, agricultural and investment banking sectors. He has founded and managed various business projects and has led major financing and restructuring operations in Europe, India and Latin America.

Until the founding of Four Trees, Vidal was an independent consultant in financing and restructuring. Previously he was Corporate General Manager of ENHOL, a Spanish family group with investments in renewable energies, agricultural and industrial activities. He was also CEO of FERSA Energía Renovables, a Spanish listed company dedicated to clean energy development with operations in southern Europe, India and Latin America.   He began his career in 1988 at Bankers Trust where he specialized in LBOs, MBOs, restructurings and M & A. Later he joined Bank of America where he was Managing Director responsible for Corporate Banking for Spanish clients. From 1998 to 2006, Senior Banker was responsible for the global coverage of the Oil & Gas, Telecommunications, Engineering and Public Sector sectors at Banco Santander within the Global Banking & Markets (SGB & M) division.  

Vidal holds a degree in Business Administration from the Complutense University of Madrid, an MBA from IESE-University of Navarra and has participated in postgraduate programs at Boston University, IESE-University of Navarra and University of Delaware

Nicolás Errázuriz is a founding partner of Four Trees Merchant Partners – Chile.
Prior to joining Four Trees, Nicolas worked for more than 15 years at Citibank, five years in Chile and the last 10 years in New York.

His last position at Citi NY was Managing Director where he served as head of interest rates for Latin America. His team was in charge of the portfolio of interest rate derivatives, currency derivatives, interest rate options, bonds and inflation instruments. It generated an average of over $30 million annually in its portfolio through trading assets in emerging markets and G10.

Nicolas was in charge of the relationship with the structuring team where, together with the client, custom derivatives were designed for the management of their assets such as hedging, financing, restructuring, etc. Nicolas also developed the IRS market in Chile (CLP-Cam) and Colombia (IBR) where he worked with local regulators and Citibank’s internal teams.

Nicolás graduated as a Civil Engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and has attended several Citibank corporate programs such as Advanced Derivatives, Price and Hedging, Corporate Finance, Derivatives Applications, Market Risk and Advanced Derivatives Model.

Juan Pablo Rojas is Founding Partner Four Trees Merchant Partners – Chile. Juan Pablo has more than 15 years of experience in different roles in corporate finance, especially in debt markets, private equity and corporate development, with a focus on energy and infrastructure.

Before joining Four Trees Juan Pablo was Managing Partner of Humboldt Partners, a corporate finance boutique specialized in infrastructure finance founded by himself in 2015. Previously we worked in Santander Global Banking & Markets as Head of Syndicated Loans at Santander, Structured Finance and Infrastructure Project Finance.

He has also been Investment Manager of the investment fund MI Factory and Deputy Finance Manager at Cintra Concesiones de Infraestructura (Grupo Ferrovial).

Juan Pablo has engineering studies at the Pontificia Universidad de Chile and the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble, France and has an MBA from the London Business School.

Gustavo is a founding Partner of Four Trees Wealth Management – Chile,  and has more than 18 years of experience in different roles in investment banking and asset management.

Before joining Four Trees in 2021, Gustavo spent 15 years at the investment department of AFP CUPRUM, a company managing over USD 35 Bn in mandatory and voluntary pension savings in Chile. He held the position of Chief Investment Officer since 2018.

Gustavo holds an engineering degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and is a CFA Charterholder.

Tomás joined the Four Trees team in 2022 and works as an analyst, participating in the evaluation of projects in the energy and transportation areas. He has participated in the analysis and modeling of private investment and structured finance projects. Tomás graduated as a Civil Industrial Engineer from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
